A welcome addition in an area where many pubs have closed down, this spacious micropub that opened on 14th June, 2018 in a former branch of Barclay's Bank, boasts a custom built bar, seating for around 40 people and barrels for those who prefer to stand. A small side room houses a large sofa and a cupboard stocked with boardgames. There are four ever changing cask ales, one of which is always a dark beer style and up to five ciders / perrys and a selection of fruit wines and bottled beers. The Keg & Comfort is a Community Micropub, and intends to follow the ethos of the Micropubs, no loud music, fruit machines, tv, sport etc. It is all about conversations and being social, something that has been lost in recent years. A small number of board games, cards etc are available and there are books you can read or swap. Serving and retired service and armed forces personnel get a 10p discount on the cask ales or ciders, not on bottles. Proof must be provided. Note that the pub is also open on the first Wednesday of each month (6:30pm - 10pm).
