Originally built in the mid 19th century as a private house and estate, by the 1940's Oakley House had become a country club. After the club closed, the building became derelict and a fire in 2015 destroyed much of the interior.
Brunning and Price have turned the building into a charming country pub of well-spaced rooms with wooden floors and roaring fires in winter, a well-stocked bar at the centre of all things and a beautiful garden room filled with light. There is also a small dining room that can be booked for private parties.
An impressive large outdoor terrace overlooks a lake within the grounds which can be seen from many rooms within the pub.
Details of a circular walk, The Oakley Arms Reservoir and Priory Trail, can be found on their website.
