See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
The building was converted to a public house in 1966 for Ansells brewery to plans by architect George Stevens and opened on 7th June 1966. It consisted of a smoke room and lounge on the ground floor and the restaurant and cocktail bar on the first floor. In 1971 internal alterations saw alterations to the first floor to extend the restaurant and in 1983 the ground floor rooms were knocked into one and the servery altered. On reopening it changed its name to Rumours, this did not last long as by 1985 it was back to its original name. A major internal refurbishment took place in 2000 which included an extension built to the rear and it reopened as an Ember Inn with its main emphasis on food.
At present while still operating as a food outlet it welcomes drinkers from the local community and beyond and offers a selection of real ales, with a minimum of 3 changing real ales sometimes up to 5.
On Mondays and Thursdays they have a £1 discount offer on all cask ales. CAMRA Members can still get an additional 20p discount.
