On the edge of Penn Common and sharing an access driveway with Penn Golf Club, this charming pub is worth seeking out. Built around 1630, it has low-beamed ceilings and steps leading down into the drinking and dining areas. It is rightly renowned for its steaks. The compact single bar has a display of drip mats, foreign banknotes and a selection of six quality real ales. Thatcher’s Heritage cider is also available.
