Named after the town's Tudor benefactor who is recognised with a carved wooden pulpit by the entrance. A good mix of guest beers are offered, many from local microbreweries, and well-priced food is served. As well as extensive seating areas upstairs and down, there is a spacious rooftop garden and a smaller beer garden downstairs to the rear. The building was constructed in 1931 and its initial use was as a builders' merchants and joinery works.
