This well-known ale bastion has over 25 consecutive years in the Guide. Up to eight guest beers are offered, usually including Freestyle ales from the adjacent brewery. There is always one real cider, and up to four in summertime. The music-free interior features a stone bar, inglenook fireplaces, and beams decorated with ancient beermats. Children are welcome in the conservatory, beer terrace and meadow-style garden. Home-cooked lunches are served (not Sunday).
