See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
Family run 400 year old village pub set in heart of south Shropshire; an area popular for walkers and cyclists enjoying the beautiful countryside and wonderful vistas of the Clee Hills. This pub has been in the same family for nearly 40 years. The pub is not easy to spot from the roadside, so be sure to look for signs on the walls of out buildings and the large car park. Entrance is from an enclosed patio area at the front of the building. When entering take the left hand door into the main bar. The other bar through the right hand door is only used for functions and private parties. The main bar has a low ceiling with exposed timber beams and an open fire. Comfortable seating around the fire makes for a very cosy and relaxing place to sit and enjoy the single real ale on offer. This room has lots of nooks and crannies and ample seating with books and games available to keep yourself and others entertained. The formal but relaxed dining room leads off to the rear of the building, but be sure to be careful of the low beam over the open entrance to this room. The long dining room with table service can seat 20 diners and there is also another room adjacent providing additional seating. Fresh produce is used for a good selection of meals with specials every Friday evening. The Duck is very much part of the local community, and booking is advisable especially for Sunday lunch. The landlady will open the pub early by prior arrangement.
