**Closed on 21/7/25 following the owners (Oakman Inns) falling into administration, its future is now uncertain. It is in a prime location, near Ludlow Castle & Market Square so hopefully it will reopen at some point**

There has been a pub on the site since 1790 and was formerly a meeting place for farmers on auction days at the old market. Formerly the George Hotel, it was renamed, refurbished and reopened as the Marches in May 2013. It closed as a pub and reopened as a pizza restaurant in 2015.

Following a long period of closure, and following a major renovation, it re-opened as the George in August 2023. The pub is a long thin bulding on a number of levels. The bar is at the front of the pub and a number of seating areas lead through to the restaurant and patio at the rear of the pub.
