Bought from Enterprise Inns in April 2012, and re-opened on 1 June 2012, the new owners have worked hard to create an attractive, welcoming and vibrant country pub. The low beamed bar has nice character items, period furniture, and an inglenook fitted with a working Coalbrookdale cast iron fireplace. Whilst it's easy to imagine a cosy interlude by the fire on a winter's night in the Shropshire Hills, another part of the bar is used for bar meals. There is also a separate dining room for more more formal meals which is quite large with a bright and open feel. An unusual feature is the verandah by the front door. Although not part of the original built pub, it was built apparently by a local carpenter about 100 years ago. It's good to see that it serves a purpose even now, with its covered roof, bench seating and more recently added wall heater. Closed Monday except for Bank Holidays. Served by the summer only Shropshire Hills Shuttle bus. Reputedly the first pub in the county to have a colour TV!
Open on Bank Holiday Mondays from Noon to eight o'clock.
