After a major refurbishment the Salwey re-opened to the public in August 2013. This is a large pub and the work done has made imaginative and tasteful use of the space available. Whilst the emphasis is undoubtedly on food, the needs of drinkers are catered for, with three beers always on tap and more at busier times of the year. There are two separate bars, appropriately named The Watering Hole plus the rather nice little Snug blessed with comfortable seating. Apart from those rooms the remaining three rooms are given over to dining. With its boarded floors and the use of plenty of wood for beams and the like, the feel is rather rustic. And a pleasing feature on a winter's day is log fires and burners in most of the rooms. So all in all, this is a most welcome addition to the stock of pubs in the Branch area. New owners as of June 2015, it now opens for breakfast at 7.30am, with the bar opening slightly later at 8am for the early birds.
