Formerly an Admiral Taverns pub, the Horse & Jockey was taken into private ownership, and after a lengthy refurbishment, re-opened in October 2015. The whole thing has been tastefully done out resulting in a pleasing, bright and clean appearance. The bar has some nice rustic style furniture and a pool table, and the lovely little snug has a couple of easy chairs and a log burner. The third room is the largest and doubles as a lounge and dining room. Visitors approaching the bar may be puzzled by the pipe running around the top of the counter. It is in fact from the dairy industry and instead of transporting milk, it is now used to carry keg beer to the pumps. However, real ale dispensing is more traditional! The quirkiness continues throughout the pub. Pitchforks & pool cues used as curtain rails, whisky bottles used for soap dispensing.
The management changed in November 2020 and they have added an attractive covered wooden dining area to the rear of the pub.
