See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
A large and imposing dining pub which was extensively renovated in 2010. The emphasis is on dining using the large open plan lounge area, and the conservatory. Despite the emphasis on food, one bar caters more for the needs of drinkers. Important sports events are shown on TV and there is a dartboard and monthly quizzes are held. Car parking is to the front and side. At the rear is a large garden (which used to include a bowling green) leading down to the River Severn and a covered smoking area. In its time it has been owned, not only by the Wrekin Brewery of Wellington, but also was part of the large local estate of the Shrewsbury & Wem Brewery. Note that the pub is fully wheelchair accessible, but the accommodation is not. The guest beer is usually from Sharp's brewery. Breakfast is served seven days a week, alcohol is served from noon. Dogs (except guide dogs) are not allowed inside.
