Town centre hotel. There is a comfortable lounge to the right of the entrance with three small rooms and a restaurant to the left. A sports bar is at the rear. Part of the lounge bar wall is an unusual glazed curved panel which originally came from Chirk castle. Close to the Wharf on the Llangollen Canal, and about half a mile from the nearest of the Ellesmere meres. Extensive menu for lunch and dinner including vegetarian and gluten-free options. There is a small car-park available, but a council-run pay-and-display park is only a short distance away. The hotel was once owned by Border Brewery of Wrexham. Closed early in 2023, and suffered some fire damage in October. Despite this, there is a website for the pub which suggests it is still trading. Reopened April 2025
