Town centre hotel tastefully refurbished in 2025. There is a comfortable lounge to the right of the entrance with three small rooms and a restaurant to the left and another bar to the rear. There are five handpumps, three in the front bar and two in the rear, although they are not all currently in use. Upstairs there is a function room with a bar and a second set of ladies and gents toilets. At the rear is a large outdoor drinking area / beer garden. Extensive menu for lunch and dinner including vegetarian and gluten-free options. Part of the lounge bar wall is an unusual glazed curved panel which originally came from Chirk castle. Close to the Wharf on the Llangollen Canal, and about half a mile from the nearest of the Ellesmere meres. Advice received on 1/12/25 that the pub has disabled access with level access to bar and disabled WC.
