The Black Bear is an eye catching black and white timbered building (dated 1662!) at the top of the High Street and opposite the church. The theme is continued inside with its low timber beams. There are several sections to the internal layout, part of which is devoted to dining. However, a bar area is available for those attracted by the interesting range of four well kept beers. Altogether a comfortable, attractive and friendly establishment providing a welcome addition to the growing band of quality real ale outlets in Whitchurch. Local CAMRA branch Market Town Pub of the Year in 2015, joint winner in 2016, runner up in 2017, and runner up in the competition for the overall Branch Pub of the Year in 2016
