Regular beers: Salopian Oracle, St Austell Proper Job

Opened in November 2017, the Stretton Ale House provides an interesting alternative to the more traditional pubs in the town. It is a micropub, certainly in terms of size, being a relatively small place, dominated by the bar; also in terms of business model, as it is aimed firmly at the ale market: as well as providing only a limited range of non-beer products, it proudly proclaims that it does not sell draught lager! Its 6 handpumps will most likely be the main attraction for Real Ale fans, and these will normally have at least three guest ales on (in addition to the regular Oracle and Proper Job), from local and more distant sources; generally including a dark style. Traditional draught cider has been added to the offering too, and the pub also offers a plethora of canned and bottled beers from the more esoteric breweries of this country, as well as a good selection of Belgian beer. Attractively furnished, in a contemporary and yet slightly rustic fashion the pub provides an excellent environment for good conversation.
