Free house serving several permanent cask beers that are joined by many changing ones from all over, along with a draught real cider. Quality food can be ordered from the bar and there is a separate restaurant. Mismatched furniture, nooks and crannies, newspapers and foliage provide a homely environment that encourages many visitors, making the pub busy throughout the week. Several fires burn brightly in winter. There's a large covered and heated outdoor area on the upper terrace, and a quiet garden hidden away at the rear. The car park is small, but there is ample parking nearby on the street. Dogs are welcome and numerous, with the common across the road.
