An old, oak beamed, pub dating from 1601 and mentioned in Cromwell's dispatches. Low ceilings and many small rooms and alcoves, both inside and out in the flower-filled garden patio. A few tables are at the front. The bar, featuring a large fireplace and range, is separate from the restaurant area. Very good sandwiches and a full menu are available. A wood-panelled function room (the Oak Room) is available for meetings and parties.
