See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
This imposing, slightly austere, brick-built detached building has been a privately owned free-house since 1998, having been substantially rebuilt after being badly damaged by the Fauld explosion in 1944, of which details can be seen in the entrance hall.
Internally, there is a largely unchanged public bar, a comfortable lounge, and a separate snug leading to a 60-seater restaurant.
Popular with ramblers; maps for several local walks can be found in the pub, including one to site of Fauld explosion about a mile away.
No regular bus service now serves the village; the nearest is the Midland Classic 402 (limited daytime service; not Sunday) which operates along Fauld Lane, about 1km (and a steep hill!) distant.
