This former coaching inn fronts directly on to the A515, with only a narrow path between. Now a family-owned free-house (since 2014), subsequent refurbishment has retained the low-beamed ceilings and hence the cosy atmosphere. The public bar is divided by a brick fireplace with a wood-burning stove, and is linked through an arch to the Highwayman's Restaurant. The latter has its own bar counter and is, in turn, linked to a bright and airy conservatory, which is also used for dining. Disabled access is possible although there are no dedicated disabled toilet facilities. The owners also operate Staffordshire Traditional Meats, based near Uttoxeter, and have converted the outbuilding by car park into a popular farm shop (opened November 2015).
