Large, attractive, two-storey building with bay windows on first floor, located close to the town centre. Renamed several times over the last decade, its current name and logo are derived from L.S.Lowry's 1961 painting "Level crossing, Burton-on-Trent", which features the pub. After struggling for many years and suffering intermittent closure, the pub has been revived by an experienced Derby-based licensee.
Comfortably furnished throughout, there is a L-shaped bar area at the front, and a dining area to the rear which overlooks the garden. The dining area includes a small, more luxurious, raised section, partly partitioned from the remainder. Fairly adventurous menu, ranging from snacks to full meals.
