An attractive thatched building with an interior extensively refurbished in 2026 There is freshly prepared food available, including traditional pub classics. With extensions and alterations over the centuries there are three distinct areas, a bar area, dining room and snug. The pub is small and crowded so access for wheelchairs or pushchairs may be difficult. Last Orders half an hour before closing time. The pub claims to have origins as far back as 1190 and is reputed to be the 2nd oldest inn to be granted a licence. The oldest part of the existing building retains a thatched roof and probably dates from the early 17th century, pub licencing was also introduced in the early 17th century.
