A lucky surviver of the blitz, this is one of Coventry's finest Medeival buildings in the cobbled steets close to the old and new cathedrals. Built in 1583 on the site of the former Coventry mint, established as a pub around 1661 and recently sympathetically refurbished 2016-17. A comfortable lounge downstairs is supplemented by more formal dining upstairs at busy times, typically Friday to Sunday, which includes a bar. An excellent menu is available every day of the week, supplemented by a snack menu 12-3 Monday to Friday. The pub caters for those with gluten and other food intolerances, ask at the bar when ordering. Live bands play upstairs every Saturday from 9pm and the open mic downstairs Tuesdays from 8pm can be rather loud.
