One of only two pubs in the UK with this name. The name comes from the meaning of Bewell Street, which is situated just inside the city wall. The building is a twentieth century replacement for an older pub, which was aligned to a planned new, wide road that was never built. The guest beer may come from far and wide, based on customers' choice.
