Deceptively spacious two-roomed L shaped pub and restaurant, on the main A52 road from Stoke to Ashbourne by the crossroad turning for Alton Towers. Origins date back to the 16th Century pub, although now very much tastefully modernised and catering mainly for diners, real ale in the small bar area is served in good condition too. Food being served up to 8pm every day. There is a roaring fire in the bar, and the guest beer will often come from a smaller, local brewery.
