Reverted to the Castle Vaults in 2018 after a period as the Vaults, this pub attracts a varied clientele. It is basically one room, but divides into various nooks and crannies, and with an inner courtyard. Has several large TVs and DJs play on Saturday night, but it retains a friendly atmosphere. In its time it has been owned, not only by the Wrekin Brewery of Wellington, but was once a part of the large local estate of the Shrewsbury & Wem Brewery. A familiar pub to Good Beer Guide user, it had a 14 year run at the end of the last century, when it was a rare local specialist in Mexican food. From 1999 to 2005 it had a rather forgettable spell as Brady's Bar, following the trend at the time for Irish-themed pubs. However since then it has re-established itself as a regular Good Beer Guide contender. The guest beer is from a local brewery.
